The Suicide Gift!

Did you know that as many as 30,000 children in the United States lose a parent to suicide each year? There’s no denying the gravity of coping with such a traumatic loss at a young age, and children with parents who die by suicide often find themselves struggling. Facing feelings of guilt and social stigma around their loss is only the beginning.

In this episode of Coach Elix’s Get a G.R.I.P podcast, the pair discuss Steven Macek’s new book, "The Suicide Gift." This release focuses on Steven’s own experiences as a child coping with the loss of his father by suicide and how it unearthed a life-changing gift.

About Steven Macek—"The Medium"

Steven often discusses his work as a psychic medium as the co-host of Get a G.R.I.P. Now, as the author of "The Suicide Gift," Steven focuses on his discovery at this time in his life. At the age of eight, and as a result of coping with his father’s suicide, Steven discovered his ability to communicate with spirits, and he uses this unexpected gift to help others on their healing journey.

Survivors Have the Freedom and Power To Break the Stigma

Rewriting your family history may seem impossible after a parent or loved one decides to attempt suicide. It’s traumatic beyond words and may drum up feelings of hurt, anger, sadness, and confusion simultaneously or in waves.

One of the most prevalent issues for the surviving loved ones, Steven shares, is the stigma associated with suicide itself. Even decades after his father's passing, Steven is still healing and intentionally trying to maintain positivity to keep moving forward. He believes everyone has the freedom and power to break a social stigma, and that’s what inspired "The Suicide Gift" as the book title.

Children Face More Complex Spiritual Journeys Toward Healing

Losing someone you love to suicide is unfathomable at any age. However, children forge an even more arduous path toward healing. They are at a greater risk for suicide themselves when they lose a parent this way, and it remains the leading cause of death for a wide range of age groups.

As a survivor, Steven hopes to shed new light on the subject of suicide. To cope with the trauma of losing his father, he shut down and abandoned several personality traits he'd developed by that time. This common coping mechanism might have seemed counterproductive, but, in Steven's case, it was how he came across his gift as a medium and found some measure of peace and comfort afterward.

This strategy helps people find their goals, inspirations, and visions and execute them with clear intentions through planning, purpose, and integrity. It works with science and psychology to make dreams a reality.

It is a roadmap that guides you through struggles and hardships, with the final destination being the life you want to lead or the changes you wish to make. The G.R.I.P. Method offers a plan to go from fear to freedom and helps you break away from where past attempts did not work.
