Skip New Year Resolutions: Aim for Goals Instead

Coach Elix recently chatted with Steven F. Macek on the Get a G.R.I.P. with Coach Elix podcast about skipping the traditional New Year resolutions this year. Instead, Steven points out the untapped value of aiming for a goal, especially one that's smart and inspiring.

Don't miss this episode if you want tips on setting goals, harnessing success, and improving your quality of life. The right goals could be the secret to a very happy new year.

Who is Steven F. Macek?

Although regular listeners might know Steven as the co-host of Get a G.R.I.P. with Coach Elix, this established attorney and spiritual medium also wear a few other hats. Steven's unique views and vast knowledge make him the perfect individual to discuss the nuances of meaningful self-improvement. In his experience, it's become abundantly clear that New Year's resolutions are just statements about wanting to make a change, but they rarely come to fruition because a statement does not equate to a strategy.

What's the difference between resolutions and goals? Goals are practical and specific, allowing anyone to make a positive change that no vague resolution can match.

Why Set Goals and Not New Year's Resolutions?

Forget the New Year's resolutions and set goals instead. The research is clear; around 45% of people break their resolutions by the end of January. We don't take it seriously, so we tend to forget about these resolutions almost immediately.

Steven explains that goals can be a much more meaningful exercise. Setting a clear, time-sensitive goal also provides more motivation to achieve it step by step. Fulfilling these goals is also incredibly satisfying, and that satisfaction contributes to the drive to make real lifestyle changes.

Make Lifestyle Changes, Not Ultimatums

Coach Elix and Steven agree that looking back at the previous year can provide valuable insight about what you could have done differently. It also makes defining your goals much easier. However, the past should be a source of inspiration, so glance back, but don't stay there.

Committing to a lifestyle change is far more effective than jumping on the latest dieting trend, and it's the same for resolutions. S.M.A.R.T. goals bring a sense of freedom that ignites momentum helping us implement and stick with the changes.

The G.R.I.P. Method

G.R.I.P. stands for "Greatness Requires Intention & Purpose," and many who have followed this method can attest to that. This strategy helps people find their goals, inspirations, and visions and execute them with clear intentions through planning, purpose, and integrity. It works with science and psychology to make dreams a reality.

It is a roadmap that guides you through struggles and hardships, with the final destination being the life you want to lead or the changes you wish to make. The G.R.I.P. Method offers a plan to go from fear to freedom and helps you break away from where past attempts did not work.
