About Guest Kelly Finn

As an experienced counselor specializing in trauma-specific therapies, Kelly Finn fully understands the challenges of trauma and hate. He founded Sunstone Evolutionary Coaching and ties that business to the counseling company ThriveMind L.L.C. He helps countless people get to the root of their traumatic experiences and heal from any subsequent mental health problems.

A Hateful Spirit Stems From Trauma

Take a look around today's world, and you'll notice that hateful actions and words overwhelm people, from anti-Semitic rhetoric to attacks on the L.G.B.T.Q. In the community and beyond, hate surrounds groups and individuals. Where does it come from?

Kelly's experience as a therapist leads him to conclude that hate stems from trauma. Those who can't fully process the emotions of a thriving mind end up holding onto that trauma and turning it into hate. Once a traumatic event occurs in our lives or we inherit some burden from our families, the trauma impacts our brains until we process it.

Everyone Has the Freedom to Overcome Hate

It might seem impossible to tackle the hate in our society. However, Kelly insists that everyone has the freedom to heal their trauma and help others process their emotions. He recommends becoming aware of the trauma at the root of hateful thoughts.

This could be anything from an experience where someone projects their own hate onto you to growing up in a household with many negative experiences. If you're trying to help someone realize their hate, remember not to engage in an emotional response, as this could hijack the process of becoming aware.

Mental Health Resources Promote Healing and Growing

Overcoming the trauma that produces hateful thoughts isn't something that many people can do by themselves. Kelly stresses the importance of mental health resources for those with trauma that they can't process. He notes that getting mental health support is equally important as going to the doctor for a regular checkup and should be available for everyone.

Therapists like Kelly help people recovering from trauma in any form reclaim their positive spirit so they don't turn their experience into hateful thoughts and actions. An excellent way for everyone to improve their mental well-being is by having policies in place that normalize therapy and other mental health resources.

The G.R.I.P. Method

G.R.I.P. stands for "Greatness Requires Intention & Purpose," and many who have followed this method can attest to that. This strategy helps people find their goals, inspirations, and visions and execute them with clear intentions through planning, purpose, and integrity. It works with science and psychology to make dreams a reality.

It is a roadmap that guides you through struggles and hardships, with the final destination being the life you want to lead or the changes you wish to make. The G.R.I.P. Method offers a plan to go from fear to freedom and helps you break away from where past attempts did not work.
